At Sunshine Kids Daycare, I follow a progressive and holistic approach to early childhood education. Every child has their own unique needs, interests and pace of development — and I am passionate about supporting them exactly where they are.

 

When children are given rich experiences and a nurturing space to explore, they build confidence, independence, curiosity and emotional wellbeing. I provide the environment, encouragement and tools each child needs to thrive as their own wonderful selves. My goal is to help them develop strong foundations so that when they move on to the next step of their learning journey, they are happy, secure and ready.

 

I truly believe that families flourish with support. We often say “it takes a village to raise a child” — here, I aim to be a warm, trusted part of that village for you and your family.

 

 

 

 

Meet Karen — Your Child’s Guide

 

I’m Karen, a Limerick native with 19 years of experience working with children in a variety of settings both in Ireland and abroad.

 

My background includes:

 

8 years in a crèche supporting children aged 8 months to 13 years

 

Private nanny experience internationally

 

Running a children’s entertainment and party business

 

Working as a Montessori teacher

 

Authoring a children’s book that is stocked in Irish stores

 

4 years running Sunshine Kids Daycare from my home

 

 

I am especially interested in children’s emotional wellbeing and I am an accredited children’s mindfulness practitioner, helping support positive mental health from the earliest years. I am always updating my knowledge, particularly in the areas of neurodivergence and inclusive care, through ongoing professional development courses.

 

I am Garda vetted, police vetted, fully qualified, insured and a member of Childminding Ireland. My First Aid and Child Safeguarding training are always fully up to date — and any documentation is available for parents to view at any time.

 

At Sunshine Kids Daycare, I aim to celebrate every child’s strengths, encourage their interests, and support their development in a warm and playful environment that feels like a home from home.

FAQ

 

1️⃣ What are your fees?

 

• €60 per day for preschool-aged children (6 months to 5 years or school going) 

• €35 per day for after-school care. including school pickup and a meal

Fees may adjust in line with the cost of living.

 

2️⃣ Do you have space available? 

​

​Not at the moment 

 

3️⃣ Do you take NCS / ECCE?

 

YES! I do offer NCS but I do not provide ECCE

 

4️⃣ Do you have pets?

 

Yes — I share my home with three friendly sighthounds. They remain in their own area of the house during childcare hours and are kept separate from the children.

 

5️⃣ What is included in the fee?

 

• Quality, attentive childcare

• Snacks

• Wipes and essential supplies

• Arts & crafts resources

• Baking ingredients and learning materials

• A secure, playful environment filled with imagination, movement and creativity
